HELIX

Dance and audio performance

For her new dance piece HELIX, Japanese dancer and choreographer Emi Miyoshi has invited two Freiburg musicians to experiment with the themes »life cycles« and »memory cycles«: the composer and specialist for works for cassette recorder Thomas Wenk and digital sound artist Ephraim Wegner. The central motif is the »Helix«, a three-dimensional spiral without beginning and end. Using digital sounds created analogously on cassette recorders, the two musicians, together with the three dancers Emi Miyoshi, Rebecca Jefferson and Ruben Reniers, create an audio-visual space that makes the »Helix« pull effect directly tangible.

"HELIX" is the first work of Emi Miyoshi under the label SHIBUI collective founded by her, which is dedicated to the fusion of dance with other art forms.
